I like Jessica Valenti! Admittedly the universe is conspiring against my tracking down a copy of The Purity Myth, but afaict she’s arguing in it that women are not worth less because they’ve had sex (or more, either) and that abstinence-only is a crock of shit, not shaming virgins. Did I miss something? And I admittedly don’t read much Marcotte, but she has always seemed very sensible to me.

Back in my philandering days, I would smirk if a cute girl smiled at me. I would approach shortly thereafter. I rarely smile, even now. When I’m smiling, it’s usually with my girlfriend who smiles so much, I use “Smiles” as one of her nicknames.

When I pose for pictures that my colleagues are going to see, I flash a big smile with bright eyes. I want people to think I’m a puppy, so they’re caught off guard when I come at them like a shark. I’ve been told I have a very disarming smile.

@Ozy
Feminists routinely shame women for choosing abstinence. When Lena Chen, a now born-again good girl, participating in a panel a year or so ago promoting abstinence as a valid choice, she raised eyebrows throughout the femosphere. Jessica Valenti notoriously made a woman cry during Q&A on a book tour. Her sin? Choosing to remain a virgin. Ugh, I could go on and on and on. I’ll leave it there. This is all publicly available info – it’s all been in the MSM.

I love the new VI:

But am glad to see the old VI still exists in there too:

I want people to think I’m a puppy, so they’re caught off guard when I come at them like a shark.

Am I the only female here who has no particular reaction to Lee Pace? Maybe it’s because I hadn’t heard of him before, but I find him kind of bland looking. I’m more of a Christian Bale kind of sucker. An image search reveals that he often does the smirk kind of smile too. This is fascinating!

Or David Beckham – there’s a guy who can get away with some fairly broad smiles and still look hot as hell. http://davidbeckham-pictures.blogspot.com/
